What they said
- FACT
Won the Democratic primary with 34.8% (76,970 votes) in an 11-candidate field, over Christy Davis (14.2%), Noah Taylor (13.5%), and Anne Parelkar (8.0%). Entered the race with an exploratory committee in Feb 2026, then formally announced as a Democrat on April 30, 2026 in Prairie Village, presenting himself as a Democrat "dedicated to leading from the center."
- FACT
Endorsements include former Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius, former Republican Kansas governors Bill Graves and Mike Hayden, and Marshall's Republican primary challenger.
- STATEMENT
His four campaign pillars: (1) Affordability: "Self-inflicted wounds out of Washington, D.C.," emphasizing "the hidden tariff tax" and higher prices for gas, diesel, and farm fertilizer amid the war with Iran. (2) Health care: concerns about health insurance, the end of enhanced subsidies, and cuts to Medicaid. (3) Bringing people together: "Those four cannot be solved by one party. We have to have Democrats and Republicans working together" (on the debt, Social Security, health care, the border). (4) "Just basic human decency."
- STATEMENT
"America is being torn apart by politicians on both extremes" and "just not who we are." In the ad: "On one side, the far-left pushes socialism and open borders. On the other side, Roger Marshall gives us higher gas and grocery prices while slashing our healthcare. Both extremes just don't get it. Corruption in Congress is making everything cost more. I approve this message because we have to fix our broken politics by meeting in the middle."
- STATEMENT
"Yes. Unlike my opponent, I'd vote for the war powers resolution the House has now passed three times. Going to war with Iran was the wrong decision. The Constitution gives Congress the power to authorize war. A president can act alone in a real emergency, but this didn't look like one. ... More than seven months later, we're back to fighting with no clear path out. We've lost American service members. ... Kansans feel it every time they fill up the tank."
- STATEMENT
Campaign spokesperson Glynnis Harvey said Hamilton met with Epstein survivors. If elected, Hamilton would vote in favor of the Epstein Files Transparency Act II and Virginia's Law (named for Epstein survivor Virginia Giuffre). Harvey: "Adam was honored to meet with these survivors as they bravely share their stories and tour the country. Adam stands with them and believes fighting for accountability should not be a partisan issue."
- ALLEGATION
A $1.2 million statewide ad accuses Hamilton of failing to report church volunteer Scott Moore, accused of molesting teenage boys at Church of the Resurrection retreats in 2005 and 2006: "Parents were ignored, and Hamilton never called the police... Adam Hamilton protected a pedophile. He should never be our senator." Hamilton denies a cover-up. Kansas News Service reporting: after the 2005 incident the church conducted an internal investigation that was inconclusive after the victim could not identify the perpetrator; after the 2006 incident church leaders told law enforcement. Moore was convicted in 2013 of misdemeanor sexual battery in an unrelated 2010 incident. Hamilton told the Kansas Reflector in July 2026 there was no cover-up but he "absolutely" would have handled the 2005 incident differently today by notifying law enforcement directly.
Verification note: Ad claims vs. the reported timeline are both recorded; the ad's characterization is the Marshall campaign's allegation.
- ALLEGATION
Marshall and Republican groups have accused Hamilton of telling Kansans to "repent for eating beef," based on a Jan 2020 sermon in which Hamilton called Christians to "repentance" over environmental impact, cited cattle's carbon emissions, and urged listeners to consider "changing your diet." A resurfaced sermon from the George Floyd protest era on "white privilege" has also been used against him. AP reporting notes at least some of the sermon-based attacks used selectively edited or disputed material.
- ALLEGATION
Over Marshall's vote to table the Sept 2025 Epstein amendment, Brody said Marshall "voted to block the release of the Epstein files," and that "Roger Marshall is desperate to hide from his record of protecting predators, and preying on low-income families in Kansas."
- STATEMENT
On tariffs: 'You can't run a business when you don't know what the tariffs are going to be tomorrow or the next day.'
What they did
None documented.
Money and influence
- DATA UNAVAILABLE
Pending donor data source: will be backfilled; never estimated
No influences documented.
What happened after
No outcomes recorded yet.
No prior public office; no ethics record to check. The Marshall campaign's church-abuse ad and Hamilton's denial are recorded above as allegation and response.
