1. Start here: the story so far

This is our summary of the record published in full in the evidence section below. Nothing here is a claim you cannot check there.

The incumbent defending Georgia with a record, not just a warning

Jon Ossoff, the Democratic senator from Georgia first elected in 2020, faces Trump-endorsed Rep. Mike Collins on November 3. The race is rated “Likely Democratic,” Republicans are reportedly pulling money out of Georgia, and Ossoff leads in every recent poll: the Atlanta Journal-Constitution/UGA poll (Oct 21) has him 48-40, Decision Desk HQ 52-43, Quantus Insights 52.7-45.4. He raised $33.1 million in the third quarter to Collins’s $2.8 million.

The kitchen-table pitch

“We’re going to repeal the tariffs and we’re going to end this disastrous war in Iran.”OSSOFF, OCT 9, 2026, CENTER SQUARE

His argument is that tariffs have driven grocery prices to record highs and the Iran war is driving fuel prices: “Thanks to Donald Trump, it costs more than ever in American history to power your home.” He blames GOP Medicaid cuts for rural hospital closures and has pledged to expand Medicaid in Georgia.

A record he can point to

In his first term he pushed for Morris Brown College: federal financial aid eligibility was restored for its students in December 2021 after he petitioned Education Secretary Cardona, and the college regained full accreditation in April 2022. The college president publicly credited him with “keeping his campaign promises.”

The complication in the record

The debates turned personal. Collins called Ossoff “a trust fund kid who’s never had a job in his life”; Ossoff repeatedly called Collins “the bigot congressman.” Collins attacked Ossoff over donations from Reid Hoffman. One fact-check went Ossoff’s way: Reuters confirmed he voted FOR the Laken Riley Act after Collins falsely claimed he voted against it.
